The drum comes complete with instructional audiocassette and is shipped in locking hardsided octagonal carrying case designed for this drum. I don't know of anyone selling a Daf drum of this quality in stores in the US or Europe. I will assist anyone ordering this drum in getting started playing it - I have been travelling with a Daf myself since May 2002.

Handmade Iranian Daf, classic instrument of Iranian and Kurdish music for 6000 years. The drum is made from a natural wood frame; beautiful top quality goat skin with natural color patterns and has hundreds of brass rings suspended around the inside of the drum frame. When played, the sounds of these rings can be controlled to add a new percussive element to the rythm that sounds like several people playing at once or can be used dramatically to sound like the crashign of ocean waves. The drums head is fitted to produce evokative sounds that can be tightly controlled through the several strokes common to classic folk music of the area to produce many different voices. This drum is essential to the most ancient forms of Sufi music alive today.
