Iran Journal Entries

I have been thinking about Iran all my life and after visiting home in Jan 2002 finally got the chance to visit. This tour meant many things to me: an effort to learn my mother's language, reconnect with my Iranian heritage and discover a country about which there is virtually no current information in the contemporary western conciousness. Films coming from Iran have as of late made a great stir but they are created under very straightened circumstances which while creating an interesting genre of subtlety and children-only castes give no sense of what it is like to visit Iran deeply. No sense of enormous variety there of landscapes and cultures set like a jewel on the ring of Iranian culture.

Here are my journal entries for Iran:

Arriving in Tehran and First Three Days

After the First Ten Days in Iran

A Date After Golestan Palace
