| Not only will your mind resist discipline but will also employ all your other senses to help distract you. Burning, itching, aching, drowsiness, hunger, soreness, hot, cold, sweating etc. All these sensations must be noted just like the thoughts as “itching, itching” etc. Unlike the thoughts they will NOT immediately go away, they will possibly increase in intensity. Ignore them until you “caint stand no more” and then note “I want to scratch/change position/nap etc” and then note “intending to scratch/change position/nap” then note each part of the remedial act as performed, note recomposure for meditating, and note the sensation of pleasure at the satiation of the urge. Another Thing to Remember: Move like you are in slow motion all the time during your mediation session. Imagine you are someone with multiple bone fractures moving around your hospital bed – that is the right speed. Stay there and bat your mind/body’s pitches until you say “ah caint stand no more!” or the session is over (you can set your alarm clock). Work your way up from 5 minutes of solid concentration to longer minute blocks |
